Flying Into Colours - Master Class @ Ballarat
What a fantastic week we had....5 days of pure indulgence in colour and designing, stitching and painting, chatting sharing and laughing, drinking eating and sleeping. Wonderful bunch of ladies and lots of enthusiasm, determination and positive attitudes. Look at the photos and see their well deserved pride in their work. Wonderful job ladies, you should feel very pleased with yourselves and feel confident to venture down a new path with your art quilting incorporating colour and flair and doing things your own way. Thank you again.
This is the Loverly Marcia with Splash Down. Marcia was my BHP of the week, the quiet achiever but when she finished she did stand and do a little wiggly victory dance...yeah...well done.
This is proud as punch Margaret with "Laugh Out Loud LOL". There are quilted words and even the correct musical notation for a verse of "Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree", quilted in one of the ribbons, thanks for the help from our retired music teacher Carole. Fantastic PAINTchwork there Margaret, look at that glowing sun.
This is the sweetheart Jeann with Pierre the Peacock - not sure which was the proudest. jeann was trying to back away from a peacock design and use a simple hibiscus. I gently bullied her back to Peacock and I know she is so pleased with her achievements
This is Genny the Brave who flew all the way from Cairns to Ballarat in winter...Brave or maybe crazy but she is with her magical work, "Don't Hold me Back". Beauitful quilt and beautiful heart.
Angela with her brilliant Rainbow Lorikeet and matching blouse "Wing It" Fantastic job.
Carole and her Siamese fighting fish....which at first I was a bit skeptical but as a design subject he has worked very well....roll out the red carpet for royalty, the "King of Siam"
Catherine with her "Lyre Lyre, Ribbons on Fire", just wonderful...and her family were impressed too! and no there is not too much black background.
Jane and her furry friends Motley and Sweetie made a "Purrfect" subject.yes that is spilt milk on the right side and knitting the cats have been playing with. There are fish quilted in there and a new style called swiss cheese quilting too.
Fran and her awesome Sea Horse called "Sea Biscuit" (because Sea Biscuit was a horse and its a sea Horse and...you get it right?)...just beautiful. We had to prop Fran up at times as she was struggling adjusting from night shift hours back to the real world but she did so well despite her sleep patterns!
Now as for Karen and her "Steampunk Owl", I shall dig a little deeper into my camera and get back to you.
Just to prove she was there with us for the week and not just hanging at Maccas eating choc pudding....
Here is Karen doing the big job of tracing her owl...great light boxes!
However on the long drive home I did take a few photos inspired by Karen's and my discussion Steampunk.
Shall work on the Steam punk idea...
Thanks again ladies. xxxxxxxxxx yes thats 10, one each.
PS Anyone reading this and wishes they could join in the fun and learning experience, I still have a few spots left in my Arty Farty Weekends coming up in September and October. Over a weekend we create a similar project with painting and stitching but using one of my designs and a much smaller in size. Read more in the menu under Arty Farty Weekend.
